New Board Composition and Tier Reps

Just a quick note to let people know that the SDSC Board has welcomed some new members. They are:

Maureen Campbell
Bernadette Campbell
Becky Hink
Bonnie Profit
George Lyle

Bill Martin is our new President and other board members still active are Paula Finkle, Jana Corish, Chris Palmer and Rob Connell. Once roles and responsibilities of each of the board members is finalized we will provide another update.


Tier Reps

It was decided in our last board meeting to assign an individual to each tier as a rep for parents to ask questions to, etc. At this point, Chris Palmer will be the Tier 1 rep, Jana Corish will be the Tier 2 and 3 rep, Becky Hink will be the Tier 4 rep and Paula Finkle will be the Regional Rep. We are looking for someone who may be interested in being the rep for the Junior Dolphins. Anyone interested can express their interest to one of the board members.

CELEBRATING MOLLY WEDGE AT THE OLYMPIC TRIALS!

ALL DOLPHINS AND GENERAL PUBLIC are invited to attend a FUN event to celebrate MOLLY WEDGE (former dolphin and Lori Gandy's daughter) who is particiapting in the OLYMPIC TRIALS this Saturday, March 31st.

Time: 10:30-2:00 pm

Location: Conference Room, Main level, Credit Union Place

Activities: Live Streaming of the swim trials, including Molly's 100 m Freestyle Event
                 Free face painting for the kids (or adults if you like)
                 Free munchies, coffee, water, etc.
                 Special message from Molly

This is a very informal but fun event and people can come and go as they wish. We hope that we can have a huge turnout to celebrate Molly is this amazing lifetime event!

10 and UNDER MEET

TWENTY -ONE MEMBERS OF THE SUMMERSIDE DOLPHIN SWIM CLUB WILL BE HEADING TO FREDERICTON N.B. THIS WEEKEND TO SLASH THEIR WAY TO SUCCESS AT THE N.B. 10 AND UNDER SWIMMING CHAMPS. COACH JENNIFER IS LOOKING FORWARD TO GREAT SWIMS, LOTS OF FUN, LOTS OF CHEERS AND A SUPER DUPER WEEKEND. THE FOLLOWING SWIMMERS WILL BE ATTENDING - COSTS FOR THE MEET ARE $40 PER SWIMMERS WHICH INCLUDES A T-SHIRT, MEET FEES AND COACHES EXPENSES. PLEASE LEAVE YOUR PAYMENT AT THE POOL IN THE DOLPHIN MAIL BOX - FRONT DESK.

Split Team Meet

Just a quick note to let people know that the split team meet originally scheduled for March 17th is cancelled. This is due to the March Break and many people being away. It may be rescheduled at a later date. We will keep you posted.

Volunteering Ballots

As mentioned at the parents meetings previously this season, parents who volunteer at swim meets or as board members earn ballots (number varies with roles) that will go towards a draw at the end of the year for a free SDSC membership. I gave these out to many parents at the last swim meet but others may have been missed. For those needing ballots please send me an email at jana.corish@gmail.com and I can ensure you get the ballots. On the ballots you fill out your name, job performed, and date worked. You then just drop these off in the dolphin box at the front desk of the CUP. This also includes volunteering you did at other swim meets outside of our own club.

New President

The Board would like to take this opportunity to thank Tanya for her time and dedication as President over the past several years. We also know she will continue to be a valuable part of our club in many other roles. Thank you again Tanya.

At this time, the Summerside Dolphin Swim Club Board would like to let swimmers and their families know that Bill Martin has assumed the position of President. Other board members remain unchanged. Several individuals have already expressed interest in joining the board and the board would like to extend this invitation to anyone else who may wish to join. Stroke Clinic

Sorry for the late notice but my computer was down. There will be a stroke and turn clinic held in Summerside on Sat March 10th from 10:30 - noon. It will focus on Breast stroke and Butterfly - stroke and turns. We will also be doing video taping. This clinic is being provided by Swim PEI - coaches Dave Campbell and Jennifer Power Hawrlyk. No cost - open to first 16 swimmers to register. If interested, confirm by emailing Dave at - davetier3@hotmail.com - this is a great opportunity for T1 - T2 and T3 swimmers.
