Charlottetown Development Meet

Hello Swimmers and Parents!

I hope everyone is finally settled into their training groups. I know it was a little crazy trying to ensure that the new swimmers were placed in their appropriate groups. I think we are finally settled!

The first swim meet of the year has quickly snuck up on us. This meet is open to ALL Dolphins swimmers regardless of age and skill level.

Here are the meet details...

Date: Saturday, October 20, 2007
Location: CARI Pool, Charlottetown
Warm-Up: 8:00 AM (with a 9:00 start time)
Events: Each swimmer can swim up to a maximum of 3 events and 1 relay. Events will be picked by the swimmers Coach.
Meet Fees: $20.00/swimmer (flat rate). Cheques can be made payable to the Summerside
Dolphins Swim Club.
Entry Deadline: October 14, 2007

Our Club does have a few policies for swim meets. Please read below...
1. Parents or swimmer must confirm their swimmers participation with either myself or their coach PRIOR to the meet entry deadline. Entries cannot be made after the entry deadline.
2. Once a swimmer has been entered into the meet, they are required to pay the meet fees regardless if they attend the meet or not. The reason for this is because once entries are submitted to the meet manager, the host Club will charge the Dolphins for those meets fees regardless if the swimmer is there or not.
3. We encourage Dolphins swimmers to wear Dolphins clothing and bathing caps. For those of you that are new, you will be receiving your free t-shirt and cap shortly.
4. Swimmers must arrive on time for warm-up. If your swimmer is not there on time, I will have to scratch (remove) your swimmer from the meet as per the SNC/SWIM PEI rules.
5. All swimmers are expected to stay for the entire meet (even if they are finished swimming) to cheer on their team mates. If your swimmer has to leave early, please notify me in advance.

For swimmers and parents that are new to competitive swimming, there is a great information document posted on this website titled "Swim Meet Advice for Parents". If this document does not answer all your questions that you might be have, please do not hesitate to contact either myself or your swimmer's coach.

A swim meet is a very fun and exciting event for swimmers and at the same time is a great learning opportunity. Meets provide an opportunity for swimmers to apply the skills that they learned in practice. For those that have never experienced a swim meet....come watch! There is no other sport competition like it. The cheering in excitement in the air will be unlike anything you have ever seen!

If any of you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to contact me. We want to ensure everyone is enjoying being part of the Dolphins Family!

I hope to see all of you at the meet!

Coach Tracy
