Dear Parents / Swimmers:

It is hard to believe that we are back in the pool and another Dolphins season is upon us! The executive is very excited about the upcoming year as we have expanded our club in members, coaches and programming. We thank you for your patience during our assessment week. By this time, swimmers will have confirmed tier placement and all coaches will be in place. Thanks for your understanding!
A few things to keep in mind:

Communication
: Please check out our website blog for updates. This is our primary method of communication. Check often!!

Parents meeting
: Parent meetings are scheduled for the first part of October. Tiers 1A, 1B and 2 will be meeting October 13th at the Credit Union Place between 5-6pm. Tiers 3, 4 and Regional/National will be meeting October 10 between 10:30 – 11:30 at the Credit Union Place. It is CRITICAL that you attend as important information about your child’s swim season will be shared at this meeting.

Caps / Suits: I have had lots of interest in caps and suits. Caps will be provided to our new swimmers in October and I will be ordering more to have in stock for purchase. Orders for suits and goggles will be taken during the parent meetings.
In the meantime, our new swimmers can wear their regular suits from the summer.

Tickets: We have replaced our swim-a-thon fundraiser with ticket sales. Tickets need to be turned in by November 30. Please drop them off at the Credit Union Place and ask the front desk to place them in the Dolphins Box. Those who did not receive tickets – I will have them on hand at the parent’s meeting. If you want them before then, please make arrangements to pick them up by contacting me directly at 436-5794.

Registration / Payments: Can be dropped off at the Credit Union Place by asking the front desk to place in our locked box.

Volunteerism: There are still lots of space for volunteers. Please think about your ability to volunteer for things such as the social committee, web design / maintenance, policy development, and so on.

Yours in swimming,

Tanya Tynski

Lost Items

Hi Everyone:

We seem to have lost a silicone cap and a bathing suit. These were lost in the boys change room so please check your son's swim bag and let me know if you find anything extra! Thanks,

Tanya

No Early Morning Practices Until October

Hello Everyone!

As some of you know...we are still working out the kinks! My apologies about the mix up with yesterday's early morning practice. I think we missed a few people so I just wanted to pass along the message again. There are NO MORNING practices, including Saturdays until the week of October 5, 2009. So the first early morning practice will be for the Regional Group on Wednesday, October 7, 2009.

See you all on the deck!

SWIM SUIT RULING

Swimmers, Coaches and Parents:

Please note the following ruling that I received yesterday. It is effective immediately:

Effective September 1, 2009, all swimwear worn in swimming competitions sanctioned under the authority of Swimming Canada must conform to the January 1, 2010 FINA swimwear approval guidelines as listed below.

MATERIAL – The material of swimwear will definitively be constituted only by textile fabric(s). The FINA definition of “textile” currently is: “Material consisting of, natural and/or synthetic, individual and non-consolidated yarns used to constitute a fabric by weaving, knitting, and/or braiding.”

SHAPE – MEN: swimwear shall not extend above the navel or below the knee. WOMEN: swimwear shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor extend below knee. No zippers or other fastening system is allowed. USE – Swimmers shall wear only one swimsuit, taping is not permitted.

CONSISTENCY – Swimwear effectively manufactured and used shall correspond to and be fully consistent with FINA approved samples. Any modification before use (including impregnation) is prohibited. Moreover, there shall be no variation/modification for individual swimmers.
