The most exciting swim meet of the year is just a few weeks away! For those new parents and swimmers out there, the Garden of the Gulf Provincial Championships is always the most fun and exciting meet.
Here are the details for the meets...
Date: May 13-13, 2011
Location: Cari Pool, Charlottetown
Eligibility: Any swimmer in good standing with SNC.
Warm-Up Times:
Friday: 4:00-4:40 PM
Saturday AM: 8:00-8:40 AM
Saturday PM: 4:00-4:40 PM
Sunday AM: 8:00-8:40 AM
Meet Fees: 11 and over - $8 event plus $5 SNC fee per swimmer
10 and under - $28 flat fee
Meet Entry Deadline: Friday May 6th, 2011 (this is a firm date, no late entries will be accepted)Please let your swimmer's coach know by the entry deadline.
Our team has been training hard all year so I know we are going to have AWESOME swims and lots of fun at this meet! Go Dolphins!!!

Quebec Trip - Confirmed
Hi Folks, Tracy is currenly away but I wanted to let you know that she has received lots of interest in our team attending the Quebec Meet so it is GO!
Tracy will be holding a meeting with parents when she returns next week but in the meantime, the basic details are the same as she emailed - leave on Friday June 3rd and return on June 5th. Travel is by bus with the Bluefins and estimated cost is $325.
We will be asking for a deposit for the meet by May 6th of $150 payable to SDSC. The remainder will be required before your child leaves.

Family Volunteering Incentive
Hi Everyone,
In the coming days you will receive an email regarding the details of our family volunteer program. Essentially, you receive ballots for a free membership in return for your volunteer activities throughout the swim year. Free memberships are drawn at our annual banquet (date to be confirmed shortly).
Please ensure you have your submission to Barry Gerus on or before May 15th to be included in the draw! Good luck!

Swim PEI Awards
Hey Dolphins - please find below the awards criteria for Swim PEI Awards. I encourage you to review all the awards and submit nominations - GO DOLPHINS!
SWIM PEI AWARDS 2010-2011
To Head Coaches and Club Presidents of Summerside Dolphins, Charlottetown Bluephins, UPEI Panthers and Swim PEI Board Members
The awards and the criteria for the nominees is listed below. All awards are for the athletes,coaches and other participants of the 2010-2011 season only
Alex B Campbell Award: This award is for the most outstanding swimmer. Someone - male or female- who excelled at meets, was committed to their training and also showed leadership within their team. This person trained hard, improved their times, consistently attended and placed at meets, and lead by example. Please include in your nomination the swimmer’s times for the season as well as any awards received
Nominations are to be made by coaches.
Barney Bree Award: This award goes to the swimmer who best demonstrated leadership, fair play and sportsmanship both in and out of the pool. The recipient has shown his/her commitment to swimming by attending meets and consistently attempting to achieve personal bests. This person also was involved in additional activities such as other sports or clubs or volunteer work. He/she also maintained good grades at school
Nominations are to be made by coaches.

Coach of the Year Award: This award recognizes the outstanding achievements of a coach who has shown his/her commitment to the sport and the swimmers. He/she respects the abilities of the individual swimmers and trains all equally, recognizing that the medal count isn’t everything. He/she keeps up with rule and technical changes and is always on deck for practices. Where possible he/she attends clinics that will advance his/her skills and knowledge.
Nominations will be accepted from anyone involved with the swim clubs on PEI.
Official of the Year Award: This award recognizes the outstanding contribution of one official. This person must have demonstrated fairness at all times, and played a role that benefited the swimmers. He/she acted professionally, recognizing that their decisions are not always popular. Clear communication with other officials and everyone else on deck was a priority. Also attendance at clinics to advance knowledge and skills is evidence of an official dedicated to his/her position.
Nominations will be accepted from anyone involved with the swim clubs on PEI.
Administrator of the Year Award: This award recognizes an administrator who is involved with swimming either at the club level or the provincial level. He/she had interest in advancing the sport of swimming for the benefit of the athletes. Their involvement helped to provide a well run organization.
Nominations will be accepted from anyone involved with the swim clubs on PEI.
Volunteer of the Year Award: This award recognizes the time and effort freely given by an individual. This person was involved in the organizing/running of many events this swim season. His/her willingness to selflessly participate has ensured that swimming on PEI remains a positive experience.
David Neil Mills Award: This is a life time achievement or outstanding contribution award, to be presented every three years only. This award is not being presented this year.
The Awards will be presented Sunday May 15th following the Garden of the Gulf
A description of the achievements, awards and worthiness of each nominee should be detailed and specific. Take care to use the criteria of the award as the basis for your nomination.

No Practice in the AM
Hello Tier 4 and Regional Group,
I just got a call from Barb McNeill and the pool will be closed tomorrow AM so there is no morning practice. They had a little "mishap" so they have to close the pool for 12 hours. So sorry for the late notice.
