Swim PEI Awards

Hey Dolphins - please find below the awards criteria for Swim PEI Awards. I encourage you to review all the awards and submit nominations - GO DOLPHINS!

SWIM PEI AWARDS 2010-2011
To Head Coaches and Club Presidents of Summerside Dolphins, Charlottetown Bluephins, UPEI Panthers and Swim PEI Board Members

The awards and the criteria for the nominees is listed below. All awards are for the athletes,coaches and other participants of the 2010-2011 season only

Alex B Campbell Award: This award is for the most outstanding swimmer. Someone - male or female- who excelled at meets, was committed to their training and also showed leadership within their team. This person trained hard, improved their times, consistently attended and placed at meets, and lead by example. Please include in your nomination the swimmer’s times for the season as well as any awards received
Nominations are to be made by coaches.

Barney Bree Award: This award goes to the swimmer who best demonstrated leadership, fair play and sportsmanship both in and out of the pool. The recipient has shown his/her commitment to swimming by attending meets and consistently attempting to achieve personal bests. This person also was involved in additional activities such as other sports or clubs or volunteer work. He/she also maintained good grades at school
Nominations are to be made by coaches.

The following awards will be determined by FINA points only
Top 10 & Under Female Award Most accumulated points at the Garden of the Gulf Provincials
Top 10 & Under Male Award
Most accumulated points at the Garden of the Gulf Provincials
Top 11-12 Female Award Highest accumulated FINA points based on 3 events. Those 3 events will be a) 200 or 400 IM
b) 200 or 400 Free c) next best event No event may be used twice in this calculation
Top 11-12 Male Award Highest accumulated FINA points based on 3 events. Those 3 events will be a) 200 or 400 IM
b) 200 or 400 Free c) next best event No event may be used twice in this calculation
Top 13-14 Female Award Highest accumulated FINA points based on 3 events. Those 3 events will be a) 200 or 400 IM
b) 200 or 400 Free c) next best event No event may be used twice in this calculation
Top 13-14 Male Award Highest accumulated FINA points based on 3 events. Those 3 events will be a) 200 or 400 IM
b) 200 or 400 Free c) next best event No event may be used twice in this calculation
Top 15-17 Female AwardHighest accumulated FINA points based on three best events
Top 15-17 Male AwardHighest accumulated FINA points based on three best events
Top 18 & Over Female AwardHighest accumulated FINA points based on three best events
Top 18 & Over Male Award
Highest accumulated FINA points based on three best events

Coach of the Year Award: This award recognizes the outstanding achievements of a coach who has shown his/her commitment to the sport and the swimmers. He/she respects the abilities of the individual swimmers and trains all equally, recognizing that the medal count isn’t everything. He/she keeps up with rule and technical changes and is always on deck for practices. Where possible he/she attends clinics that will advance his/her skills and knowledge.
Nominations will be accepted from anyone involved with the swim clubs on PEI.

Official of the Year Award
: This award recognizes the outstanding contribution of one official. This person must have demonstrated fairness at all times, and played a role that benefited the swimmers. He/she acted professionally, recognizing that their decisions are not always popular. Clear communication with other officials and everyone else on deck was a priority. Also attendance at clinics to advance knowledge and skills is evidence of an official dedicated to his/her position.
Nominations will be accepted from anyone involved with the swim clubs on PEI.

Administrator of the Year Award: This award recognizes an administrator who is involved with swimming either at the club level or the provincial level. He/she had interest in advancing the sport of swimming for the benefit of the athletes. Their involvement helped to provide a well run organization.
Nominations will be accepted from anyone involved with the swim clubs on PEI.

Volunteer of the Year Award: This award recognizes the time and effort freely given by an individual. This person was involved in the organizing/running of many events this swim season. His/her willingness to selflessly participate has ensured that swimming on PEI remains a positive experience.

David Neil Mills Award: This is a life time achievement or outstanding contribution award, to be presented every three years only. This award is not being presented this year.

The Awards will be presented Sunday May 15th following the Garden of the Gulf

A description of the achievements, awards and worthiness of each nominee should be detailed and specific. Take care to use the criteria of the award as the basis for your nomination.
