It will allow us much greater freedom to both change & upload content.
Latest news will be replaced by the BLOG tab.

FALL SPLASH FOLLOW-UP
WOW, what a week-end, the Fall Splash was a huge success thanks to the combined efforts of our swimmers, coaches, pool staff & volunteers.
We will eventually count up the number of individual volunteers & those who volunteered multiple times & report that on our blog.
For now, it is suffice to say that we had by far one of the best run major meets ever in Summerside.
One of our goals as a board this season was to accomplish exactly that, run well attended, well officiated and electronically sound swim meets.
WE DID IT throught the combined efforts of all involved. THANKS to each & every one of you for stepping up and making the Fall Splash meet one of our best ever.

MAJOR SWIM PEI SWIMMING AWARDS
Our club is proud to announce that two of our swimmers won the top swimmer awards for the entire province at the Swim PEI awards event held here in Summerside on Saturday.
LOGAN PALMER won as the top under 10 year old male swimmer &
EVAN TYNSKI won as the top 13/14 year old male.
These are major accomplishments considering the relatively small size of our club and both swimmers need to be commended for their hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence.
In addition, Logan, Evan & Zach Doiron were recognized for setting several provincial records in the past swimming season.
Give a high five when you next greet these terrific club ambassadors.

Family Volunteering Awards
Hi Folks,
For those of you who are new to the Dolphin Swim Club, a policy exists that rewards individuals who volunteer at various meets, functions & other capacities by receiving draw ballots. See separate post.
After each season two draws are made, 1 for tiers 1-3 & 1 for the 4’s & regionals. The winners drawn receive free swimming for their child the following season.
Unfortunately, this past season many people who volunteered were not given opportunities to fill out ballots. To correct this & reward volunteers we are asking all individuals who volunteered in any capacity (again see the list) to respond to this by emailing Bonnie Profitt at profittboys@hotmail.com
We are recognizing that we are using the honor system with this but this appears to be the most equitable manner to proceed.
We will organize a ballot writing committee to fill out the necessary ballots, place them in a box & make the two draws at the AGM on September the 19th at 6:30.
To summarize, we all need to advise Bonnie of the events involved & the capacity we served in. Deadline for submissions is July 31, 2012
Regards,
Bill
We have emailed parents with this information as well but it appears our email list is not complete.

Summerside Meet - May 12th
The day has come & gone & we need to celebrate, congratulate & thanks lot's of people.
We need first of all to congratulate all our young swimmers who represent our future. Our kids were awesome both as competitors & ambassadors.
We need to congratulate our coaches whose efforts were rewarded.
We need to thank & congratulate our meet managers. without their hard work the event would not have been sanctioned or official.
We need to thank our volunteers. From our outstanding group of referees, our timers, our judges, our starters, our marshalls, our food service runners, without all of your contributions, meets like this can not happen.
We also need to thank our Dolphin parent family that also extends to grandparents as well. It was great to see the stands full of cheering fans.
To the coaches, family & volunteers who assisted us from the Charlottetown Bluefins & CNBO from Moncton, thanks for participating & thanks also for your positive feedback about coming to our meets & city.
Finally, thanks to the CUP staff who go out of their way to assist in every way.

STROKE & TURN TRAINING CLINIC - MAY 10th
Hi Dolphin Family, we are hosting a 2 hour Stroke & Turn training session the evening of May 10th, 6PM in room 2 at CUP. As a club we have very few certified S & T officials to assist at our meets. Most people do not know that stroke & turn judges do not disqualify swimmers, they simply report what they have seen to the head referee who will determine if an infraction has taken place & rule accordingly. The referee, not the judge, makes this decision & the benefit of the doubt always goes to the swimmer. In addition, after the training seminar, the new judge must participate at two official meets being mentored by a qualified judge before being certified. (Example the dequal meet on the 12th as an example of this) I have taken this training & plan to retake it on the 10th. The videos shown are very clear & helpful as part of the training. There is no need to preregister just join us on the evening of the 10th of May. Thanks,

Volunteering Ballots
As mentioned at the parents meetings previously this season, parents who volunteer at swim meets or as board members earn ballots (number varies with roles) that will go towards a draw at the end of the year for a free SDSC membership. I gave these out to many parents at the last swim meet but others may have been missed. For those needing ballots please send me an email at jana.corish@gmail.com and I can ensure you get the ballots. On the ballots you fill out your name, job performed, and date worked. You then just drop these off in the dolphin box at the front desk of the CUP. This also includes volunteering you did at other swim meets outside of our own club.
Thanks
Jana
Thanks

New President
The Board would like to take this opportunity to thank Tanya for her time and dedication as President over the past several years. We also know she will continue to be a valuable part of our club in many other roles. Thank you again Tanya.
At this time, the Summerside Dolphin Swim Club Board would like to let swimmers and their families know that Bill Martin has assumed the position of President. Other board members remain unchanged. Several individuals have already expressed interest in joining the board and the board would like to extend this invitation to anyone else who may wish to join. If interested, please contact Bill Martin directly at 902-888-7455.
Thanks,
